Dadi Nirmala Hassanand Gajwani, the chief architect of Dr. H. R. Gajwani College of Education is a renowned personality of the twin cities, Gandhidham-Adipur. Dadi Nirmala Gajwani was endowed with a zeal for social service since her childhood.

In 1967, Smt. Nirmala Gajwani was elected to Gujarat Legislative Assembly (Anjar Constituency). Subsequently, she was nominated as a Member on various District and State Level Committees by the State Government. Dadi Gajwani was also the Chairperson of the Sindhu Resettlement Corporation (SRC) Ltd.,Adipur and the President of the Divine Life Society, Adipur. She was also associated with Gandhidham Collegiate Board (GCB) and Maitri Mandal, Adipur. With her exemplary dynamism and entrepreneurship, she participated actively for the welfare of the local community and was a role model for many.

Advancing further in her social and educational enterprises she ventured into the field of Higher Education, which led to the establishment of Dr. H. R. Gajwani College of Education in the year 2005 in memory of her life partner Dr. Hassanand Rochaldas Gajwani(07.08.1921 – 03.05.2005), who was an eminent eye surgeon and an idealistic visionary.

Though she is no more with us, her contribution to the society and her fond memories will always remain with us. ‘Dadi Nirmala Gajwani Market’ of Gandhidham, named in Dadiji’s memory by the Municipality & Vyapari Mandal, has immortalized her. She will be alive for ever in the memory of people of this region.
